SCOTT BARNETT

bio

Scott is a recording engineer and mixer based in the UK. He started in the music industry as assistant engineer for Peter Gabriel engineering on the album New Blood and assisting on the mix of the concert film New Blood: Live In London.

After graduating from the renowned Music & Sound Recording “Tonmeister” course at the University of Surrey, Scott began his freelance career, which led to assisting composer Harry Gregson-Williams and engineering at Real World Studios, working on sessions ranging from Jeff Beck to Beyoncé.

More recently Scott has been working with Grammy and Ivor Novello award-winning producer and songwriter Fraser T Smith, engineering tracks for Kasabian, Tom Walker, Aitch, Calum Scott, Sam Fischer and Mimi Webb, and mixing Future Utopia projects, including the recent EP We Were We Still Are and the upcoming album Django's High.

Scott has also worked on live shows as a programmer and playback engineer for London Grammar, Rita Ora, George Ezra, Paloma Faith and Stormzy – including his critically-acclaimed Glastonbury 2019 performance – and has mixed FOH for Rex Orange County, Oh Wonder, Birdy, NAO and John Grant.

Scott is an accomplished guitarist with a passion for creating unique sounds using a range of effects pedals, and a specific interest in recording bands to analog tape.
